Obituary of Calista Jean Hengel

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our dear, sweet mother Calista Jean Hengel on August 30, 2024, at the age of 88, in Penticton, British Columbia.

Cally had an infectious thirst for life, fun and family. Despite suffering the tragic blow of her husband Lowell’s death in 2003, she decided to keep on living, enjoying 21 wonderful action and joy filled years afterwards. Cally had warmth, charisma, mirth and charm, all in abundance, attracting many to her side, joining her in shenanigans and adventures. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her children Gregory (Jennifer), Maureen, Richard (Paul) and Barry (Lori), grandsons Ross (Kelly), Brock and Mitchell, and great granddaughters Zoe and Leona. 

A Celebration of her remarkable life is planned for Friday, October 11, 2024 at McPherson funeral home in Cranbrook British Columbia. Reception to follow at the Cranbrook Golf Club 4-6 pm.
