I went to high school with Cally in Thorsby Alberta Later I went to the University of Alberta at the same time as Cally I also took her to various social functions. I remember her as a very intelligent student who always had excellent marks Cally was very popular and had lots of friends She was a good dancer and we always attended dances in her home town of Sunnybrook Alberta I want her family to know she was special! my thoughts and prayers are with you during your sad times! We knew Cally through Des and Joy Cowan and spent many happy evenings with her. She often accompanied Joy to our Sunday dinners and after she moved to Penticton she treated us to picnic lunches with her at the beach. In the last couple of years we visited her for lunch at the lake where she was always happy. When she moved to Penticton she gave me a pie plate and whenever I use it I think of her and especially when I fill it with a delicious rhubarb pie made from her recipe. We treasure the memories of time spent with her and send our deepest condolences on the loss of your lovely mother.

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Calista? A: Our deepest condolences on the death of Callie. I will always remember her beautiful smile, warm greetings when we met and her love of the beach in Armstrong Bay. She will be sadly but fondly remembered by all who knew her. My heart goes out to all of the Hengel family hearing of the loss of your mother and grandmother. Cally has always been such a true and dear lifelong friend since first meeting her and Lowell at Armstrong beach, and then as neighbours in the Cranbrook townhouse. So many good memories. As Joanne and I are not able to attend Cally’s celebration tomorrow, please accept our heartfelt support for you all in celebrating and sharing the one and only Life of Cally! Greg, Maureen, Rick and your families. To know Cally, was to love Cally! She was a beautiful person inside and out and we loved her dearly. She brought joy to the lives of everyone that she met.
