Daryl was away, I had just started a new job and Joshua got the chicken pox, so grandpa drove 8 hours and missed the Grey Cup game to look after him. That's love!

Papa, we learned so much from your unconditional love. With all our hearts we will miss your grumpy comments, crude jokes and scratchy cheek stubble. You are the best grandpa a bunch of kids could have ever asked for.
Much love, Barb, Chris and Briar

How do you put into a few words of someone so "SPECIAL" and "LOVED" as Bob. He and Dick were very close growing up and that relationship continued over the years. Dick has many fond memories of him and Bob. One was after finishing their chores on the farm on Sat. nights at Winter Lake Sask. they would hike out to the road which was around 4 miles to the main hi-way from there they would try and catch the bus going to Big River near Bodmin costing them between 10 and 15 cents or they occasional would hitch hike into Big River Sask. to watch a movie. When the movie was over, they would phone one of their Brother-In-Laws either Leo or Albert to drive them back to the road that led them home. (Dick said some time Leo and Irene would already be at the movie so they just drove the boys to the road). From here they would walk back to the farm (in winter time they used their snowshoes). Another memory Dick has is when they were in their early teen's they took an old Buggy attached a rope to the front axle Bob would be inside the buggy to steer, Dick would give it a good push then jump into the buggy and down the hill they would go, then they would push and pull it back up the hill to go down again. Dick said "They never landed in the Lake!". Many years later Dick stayed with Bob, Merely, and Family when he worked at the Mill in Canal Flats, B.C. he treasures those times and their support.
There have been many trips back and forth from Vulcan, Ab. to Canal Flats, B. C. over the years.
When I met Bob and Merely in 1982, they welcomed me with open arms into the Family.
There has always been a special bond with their Family. We were Lucky enough over the years to celebrate Special Birthdays, Anniversaries, Weddings, Family Reunions, Retirements and of course the sad times of losing Family Members.
Bob was always upbeat, we did a few adventures along the way, camping, going into the bush to cut down trees for their winter firewood, packing into their station wagon to go to a Drive-In-Theatre, trips to Fort Steele, Cranbrook, Kimberley. The times we got together in Big River for Family Events. Oh how he LOVED going back there to Visit Family and Friends.
We always sent back and forth Funny Birthday Cards each time trying to up each other. One Christmas we found the "Perfect" rug for them which brought in many a laugh over the years. "HERE LIVES A VERY NICE PERSON AND AN OLD GROOCH". I was worried he would take offence to this but no, he just laughed and said, "Well we know which is which!" It gave us lots of giggles.
Over the last few years, we have not been together as much as we wanted but we had the phone. Bob was always good about phoning, to see how everyone was doing. A special part of Bob was making sure he kept in touch with his nieces and nephews. This caused such a special bond that will always be a treasure to everyone. Bob touched so many lives over the years. He was well "LOVED"' and Respected wherever he went.
As hard as it was for everyone this last couple of months, Dick, DiAnne and Myself were Thankful for the times we got to spend with Bob while he was in the Lethbridge Hospital.
Bob will be truly missed and has left a "HUGE" hole in a lot of hearts.
We send our Deepest Sympathy to Merelyn, Vaughn, Joyce, Christopher, Liam, Cynthia, Kalen, Annette, Daryl, Josh, Mackenzie, Kevin, Kyle, Tiffiny, Benny, Naomie, Dallas, and Family. The Kaufmann Family whom he Loved and Treasured and the Wonderful Friendship of Al and all those whose lives were touched over the years by Bob and Merelyn.
Sending "LOVE", "HUGS", and "LOTS OF PRAYERS". Dick and Brenda Schuler XOXO

Bob’s gardening and lawn care skills were second to none! I have many happy memories of him telling me he grew too much of something and to go take some.
Bob was wonderful with Callie when they were small, and again with Emmett and Amelia when we welcomed them into the family. He truly cared for children.

How do you say goodbye to someone who you have known your whole dam life. I appreciate all the visits and phone calls. You are more than special to me. You will be in my heart forever.
To my kind Uncle Dyck, I am so sorry you suffered the loss of your whole family. We cherish you. My dear Aunt Merelyn, thank you for the time you gave me while Uncle was passing. I got 2 kisses that he never would have sat still for otherwise. My caring sister who drove 17 hours in a weekend to get us there. I did send her some literature on how to deal with a person who has anxiety. Vaughn and Annette, I see your Dad in each of you, and his sense of humor will carry on. To Chris, who held me when my grief overwhelmed me. Thank you. My parents who are always there for me no matter what.
To my Great Uncle Bob, thank you for telling me that you loved me. I know how special that moment was to both of us. I can still hear your laughter when I phoned you back and made you say it again.
We had so many opportunities to take a really nice picture of just us. This picture was taken on your last visit to Big River in 2024. You wanted to surprise me, and boy did you ever. I think Vaughns hearing is still recovering from all the screaming I did.
At the end of your visit I had to go to PA and wanted to be sure that I said Good Bye to you. This picture is simply us. I was so thrilled that you made the long drive, and was soon to realize just how far it was. I went to say my final Good Bye but never did, and never will. You will live in my heart forever.
"I love you," said Leah
" O.K." replied Uncle
