So sorry to hear of his passing. I spent many hours down at the Husky having coffee with Horst and the gang. I actually convinced him to take me fishing once. We went up by Fernie on the river just off the highway. We heard a bunch of yelling so we turned only to come face to face with a black bear. It was only about 20’ from us. Without any hesitation, Horst pushes me behind him as he put himself between me and the bear. We had no where to go as the river was behind us and the bear was in front. Horst stared him down and the bear just walked away. Then he turns to me and says “I wasn’t worried about having to run away really fast, I just had to be faster than you”. That’s just the kind of man he was.
