Frank Beneteau, son of Stanley and nephew of Raymond.
My condolences to Joyce and the girls. Unfortunately we have only met once in 1979 when we came from Germany to visit Stanleys family. I didnt know that Raymond was a carpenter, but that would explain my love for the manual, old school woodworking.
Rest in peace uncle Ray!

Ray was a special guy and will be missed by his many friends. He was always friendly and welcoming, with a story to share about his latest wood working project. I'm glad we got to meet Ray when we first arrived in Kimberley as it gave us an opportunity to do things together over the intervening years. Joyce, our thoughts and condolences are with you and your family. We hope to see you again soon,

Terrible news, I'm sorry to hear of Ray's passing. What a loss.
I always appreciated Ray's ever-present smile and the good-humoured jokes he had to share. He was one of the first people to welcome me into the Kimberley community when I met him at the Snowdrift. As another regular, I liked seeing him there, and often sat to chat about life and the things that matter over his latest mystery novel. I'll remember his playful, positive outlook and his willingness to share stories of his life, his town and his family: it was clear to me that Ray loved those closest to him very deeply and felt very lucky for having them.
Bumping into him and his morning everyday-ski crowd at the Kootenay House or on the slopes was also always a pleasure. For an old feller, he sure ripped. I hope I'm as spry at 78. The mountain will be darker without him there.

So very sorry to hear this, Joyce. Even though we never met Ray more than in passing - at the grocery store or when he was dropping you off at Bridge - it always seemed like you two were such an amazing match. We so wish much strength for you, patience and perseverance when times seem overwhelming and many little moments that give you joy in the midst of sadness. Max and Sabina

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time, Joyce. Ray was a great guy to work with and I remember him fondly.
Les and I remembered going to your home after a City event. I think of my co-workers at the City and remember Ray with my favourites. He will be remembered by many!

Remembering the visits we had long ago and just recently in August... Feeling so grateful I got to hear Uncle Ray talk about his precious girls, grandchildren, and his passion for skiing. One could feel how proud he was of his girls, their accomplishments and the joys of being a grandparent. He was so enthusiastic talking about his skiing adventures! He made it sound all so easy!
In recent years, seeing Uncle Ray in person reminded me so much of my Dad. It was like catching a glimpse of his smile, his laughter and his love of life. That will be missed.
I can just imagine Uncle Stanley, Uncle Ray, my Dad and Grandma happy to be reunited up there! Just as it used to be so long ago
"When the heart grieves over what it has lost, the spirit rejoices over what it has left."
May you all cherish the memories you have of Uncle Ray and find strength and comfort in those moments you hold closest to your hearts. Love, Katherine, Steve, Ryan, Devin, Kailtyn and Corinne

No one in the world could have asked for a better, big brother to Paul and awesome brother-in-law-to me than Ray was !. It was evident that family was of utmost importance to Ray. We were truly appreciative of all of Ray's efforts over the years to re-connect with Paul.after so many lost years as kids.. The children and have so many endearing memories of special times together. .Ray always was interested in my family and we loved him very much. He will be missed.
Girls, you were blessed to have such a great Dad. Joyce,...you and Ray truly loved each other and made such a meaningful difference in each other's lives......and that is a gift that no loss or sorrow, or time or distance can ever take away.
With deepest sympathy and love always, Sue.

Thinking of you and your family, Joyce. We send our sympathies and hope that you are coping in these difficult times. We are glad to hear that your daughters are with you now. Even though we did not know Ray really well, we will remember that he always had a friendly greeting for us at the ski hill and, like others have said, he had that engaging smile. We will miss him on our much loved ski runs at the Kimberley hill, but he will live on in the memories of his many friends, family, and acquaintances.
Take Care,
Virginia and Howard West

Phil and I were shocked and saddened to hear of Ray’s passing. Ray always had a big smile on his face. Seemed whenever I was at the Snowdrift he was too with his book and coffee or with his other ski buddies. Joyce and family we are so very sorry for your loss.

This is a real shock to both Barb & I. We have known Ray and Joyce for many years. We skied with Ray and shared a
coffee with him at the Snowdrift many times, he was always reading a favorite book which he often shared some of the plots
with Barb who is always an avid reader. Our condolences go to Joyce and her family, he will be missed by both of us and many others.
