I am so sad to hear of Uncle Carl's passing. He was such a tease...who's your boyfriend? What does he look like? Is he cute? Drove me crazy, but I always came back for more. He stayed with us in Pouce Coupe for a week when I was about 12 (I think he was there working). One afternoon he was having a snooze on the couch. I was playing the only 45 record I owned - a Beatles one, of course, on the record player that Auntie Linda had donated to our cause. After about the 30th time, Uncle Carl finally opened one eye and said, "Don't you know that song off by heart yet? I know I do." I thought he had a world of patience...my dad would have said something about 29 times earlier. Uncle Carl was unique because, as a kid, I always felt included - that didn't always happen. Thanks, Uncle Carl, for being you.

I'll never forget the first time I saw Carl. He was sitting outside sharpening an axe. I was struck by the resemblance between him and Brad. Over the years I was reminded many times of that first impression. While Carl may have passed on from our lives, he has now joined up with Brad again, and I am sure heaven is just a little noisier with the two of them playing their guitar and violin together as they always enjoyed doing. Their music will be missed.

Uncle Carl was a favorite uncle of mine. He reminds me so much of my Dad, his quiet presence, his intellect, his sharp sense of wit and humor, his positive, practical outlook on life and his family; his ability to play complicated card games, like bridge!Looking at the old photos of our aunts and uncles early days in the Peace country- it's easy to see where Uncle Carl's ideas of fun and family origonated! He will be missed. Our sincere sympathy to Aunty Katy and Carol, Elaine, Marvin and all his family.Hope to see you in DC next summer.
