April 20, 1932 - July 21, 2008
It is with much sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alan Rance of Cranbrook, British Columbia. Alan was born and raised in Plymouth, England and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1968 settling in the Lower Mainland. After living in Armstrong for many years, he retired to Cranbrook in 2001. A talented craftsman and musician, Alan made over 70 violins, and was an accomplished violinist. An architectural painter by trade, he was a remarkable man who created much beauty with his hands.
Alan will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years Margaret; daughter Heather Nish (Dean); sons Stephen and Alistair (Joanna); and grandchildren: Gordon, Alanna, Rebecca, Alex, Julie and Liam Nish; Aiden Rance and Anastasia, William, James and Everett Rance.
Visitation will take place from 10:00 until 10:45 at the Church of Later Day Saints in Cranbrook on Saturday, July 26, 2008 with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am in the Church of Later Day Saints. Parking for friends attending Alan's service will be available in the RecPlex parking lot on the corner of 2nd Street North and Victoria Avenue. Senior's may park in the staff parking lot of the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on the 2nd Street North entry across from the Church.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial doations in honour of Allan be made to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital: 13 24th Avenue North Cranbrook, British Columbia V1C 3H9.
