It is with great sadness that the family of Robert "Beau" Blair announces his unexpected passing on January 24, 2008 in Cranbrook. Beau left us too soon at the age of 59.

Beau was born in Manitou, Manitoba in 1948. Beau grew up in Manitoba and headed west in the early 1970's where he met his wife Brenda. When they moved to Cranbrook in 1979 Beau fell in love with the Mountains.

Beau was known to people through his various jobs: first as a manager of Beaver Lumber, later as a manager of Wilkinson Steel, and for the last five years working side by side with his wife Brenda as the owners of Sears in Cranbrook.

Beau was passionate about skiing, mountain biking, golfing, and hiking. This passion drew like minded people to Beau, and many friendships grew from the love of the outdoors. Over these years Beau became a positive force and mentor to many.

Beau was predeceased by his father Earl, and his brother Cliff. Beau is survived by his wife and best friend Brenda, mother Vicki Blair, brother Murray (Marcia ) Blair, sister Vivian (Gord) Moore, nephew Michael (Jen) Blair, niece Laura (Aaron) Pauls, niece Caryn (David) Barr, niece Jaime (Wally) Boonstra. Beau is also survived by his mother in law Frances Seaman, sister in law Linda (Rod) Strong, nephew Monte Strong, niece Kelly Strong, and niece Robyn Strong.

Beau also left behind many close friends and co-workers.Beau will be remembered for his love for life and others. Beau has impacted many lives with his positive attitude and outlook on life. Beau always seemed to have a smile on his face that brightened your day.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at McPherson Funeral Service in Cranbrook on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers those wishing to remember Beau may do so by making a donation to the Cranbrook SPCA or the Kootenay Wildlife Heritage Fund.
