Obituary of James Ewart Price

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James Ewart Price "Jim" 1946 - 2017 Jim was born to his parents, Ron and Pearl Price, in Kelowna, BC on May 31, 1946. Within the year, they moved to their home in the Hullcar area of Armstrong, BC. Jim attended school there, until he graduated from high school and began his teacher training in Victoria, BC in 1964. On May 20, 1966, Jim married Rose Aarestad, from Salmon Arm, and they cherished 51 years together. In 1966-67, Jim taught elementary school in the same school he attended in his growing up years. In September of 1967, Jim and Rose moved to Victoria so Jim could complete his Teacher's Certificate. In September 1968, Jim and Rose moved to Cranbrook where Jim began teaching at Central School, which he continued until 1972. In 1973 Jim moved to Muriel Baxter School, where he spent many years, loving his career, especially with his Grade 7's. In the early 1990's, Jim took some time out from teaching, and enjoyed working in renovations, having learned many skills from his father Ron. Jim returned to his teaching career at TM Roberts School, in 1995, and remained working there until May 1998. Jim retired on January 31, 2004. He found much pleasure in keeping himself occupied as a loving grandfather, gardener, outdoorsman, and most devoted husband, at home. Jim's woodpile is testament to his love to be working outdoors! His garden has been his delight for many years. Hunting, trapping, and fishing were all things that brought him pleasure, which he shared with his family and many special friends. On April 15, 1956, Jim professed to serve God, which he faithfully continued, until his death on Friday, December 15, 2017. His last request of Rose was to read him her notes from the Special Meetings, held in Cranbrook on December 3, 2017. As Rose was reading to Jim, he commented on a few details from that day. A short time later, he became unresponsive to voice prompts, and was taken to hospital by ambulance on Thursday, December 14, 2017. He was diagnosed with an acute stroke, passing away in ICU, on December 15, 2017, with his family by his side. Jim is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Ron, Todd, and Kathi (Nowell), David (Andrea); grandchildren Jesse, Shelby (Justin), Sean, Morgan, Jake, Addyson, Ki, Tristan, Brigette, and Liam; great granddaughter, Seren, and many other relatives and close friends. Jim was predeceased by his father Ron, his mother, Pearl, his brother, Peter, and his nephew, Kyle. Jim will be remembered for his love of teaching children, giving himself deeply to his grandchildren and family, and committing himself faithfully to his wife, his faith, and, most importantly, his promises to God.
