Gladys Genevieve Scott
1924 - 2017
It is with sadness we say goodbye to our very dear mom, Gladys, who passed away peacefully on February 28, 2017.
Mom was born in Wadena, SK on June 22, 1924 as the only child of Oscar and Ermina Olsen. Mom worked her whole life starting as a school teacher in Saskatchewan and Manitoba where she taught grades 1 to 12. She met her future husband, Doug Scott in Sceptre where they both were teaching. They eventually moved to Swift Current, SK where they raised their two children. They found their way to Cranbrook in 1982 where they opened Kings Coffee and Kitchen in the Tamarack Mall where many came to get friendly service and the best coffee beans in Cranbrook.
Mom was an independent, full of life, wife, mother, friend, and pretty darn good bridge player. Most important to her was her family whom she unconditionally loved and focused her life on. We feel very lucky to have had her as our mom and we will miss her dearly.
Gladys leaves behind her son Phil Scott, daughter Jan Scott, daughter-in-law Janet, and grandchildren Samantha and Alexandra. Gladys was predeceased by her husband Doug Scott.
A Celebration of Gladys' Life will be held at the Cranbrook Senior Centre on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Gladys may do so to the: B.C. Children's Hospital Foundation, 938 - West 28th Avenue, Vancouver, British Columbia, V5Z 4H4.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
