Olive Florence Carlyle (nee Hunt) 1923 - 2016 Olive Florence Carlyle passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, May 8, 2016 in Galloway, BC. She was 92. Olive was born on December 12, 1923 in Edmonton, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom to her parents, John and Edith Hunt. Olive completed school and went straight to work as a seamstress. When the war began she went to work in a military factory making airplane parts. Olive met Donald Carlyle and they were married on September 12th, 1942. They had their first daughter in England, Margaret. Don came home to Canada after the war and Olive and Margaret followed on the Queen Mary from South Hampton, England on May 23rd, 1946 to Halifax, Canada where they arrived on May 27th. They then travelled across Canada by train from Halifax to Southern Alberta. There they settled down and had 3 more children, Danny, Colin, and Sandra. They moved to Southern BC living first in the Letcher's lumber camp, second in Waldo, then to Galloway where they had their youngest daughter Penny. They eventually moved to Cranbrook where they resided for many years. Olive was predeceased by her mother Edith Bonaville and her father John William Hunt, her brother Jack, sister Edie and her nephew Brian. She was also predeceased by her granddaughter Elizabeth, son-in-law Vern, husband Don, and her daughter Sandra. Olive is survived by her daughter Margret (and family), son Danny (Lynn and family), son Colin (Trish and family), her daughter Sandra's family, her daughter Penny and family. Olive will be buried in a small ceremony at 11:00 am on Friday, May 13th, 2016 at Westlawn Cemetery in Cranbrook, BC. Her memorial service will take place on Friday, May 13th at 1:00 pm in Jaffray, BC at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Olive's life. As per Olive's wishes, in lieu of flowers please donate to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, BC & Yukon Division, 1103, 4720 - Kingsway, Burnaby, British Columbia, V5H 4N2.
