I took care of Ruth his wife at their house when she was sick. Jim use to give me tomatoes from his green house. He was a very giving person and always made you feel like part of the family. He will be missed.

When Jim and Ruth and family returned from California in 1964, Ruth's parents (my parents too) were in the midst of moving from their old home at 430 6th Avenue to their new one at 502 6th Avenue. Unfortunately, it was much smaller, so my dad decided he would renovate and add more rooms. The job was overwhelming to him. Jim immediately pitched-in and with his strength, energy and expertise at home-building rescued the project. The result was a really liveable and pleasant house, that became a good home for my parents for many years. Another thing I remember is that Jim was an amazingly gifted bridge player, which also delighted my bridge-playing parents.
Over the years, my family (my wife, Ruth, and our children, Andrew and Clarice) had the opportunity of enjoying visits with Jim, Ruth and family, We are saddened by his passing and will miss him. We want to send our deepest condolences to Colin, Janice, Susan and Brian and their families.
Bill, Ruth, Andrew (Elizabeth Sale and William) and Clarice Eckford
