Obituary of Joyce Barrie
Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Adelaide Barrie on January 23, 2012, at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital at the age of 85 years. Joyce was born on October 26, 1926 in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Our mother was a kind, caring lady who was generous with her time and energy to all in need. The greatest joy in Mom's life was her family and their friends, especially while providing great food for all. She worked for the Bay for seventeen years forming many dear friendships along the way and enjoying lots of good laughs while there. Mom was an avid knitter, reader and participated in a good many sports during her time including bowling, curling, skating and golf . She is probably best remembered as the lady who walked so fast around Kimberley everyday for two or three hours. Plants were another thing Mom managed to have a gift for - she could rescue the saddest of specimens and make them a thing of beauty! Many thanks go to the nurses and doctors at the Regional hospital.
Joyce is survived by: her daughter Barb (Jim) Kadin, sons Gord (Val) and Len (Arlene) - 10 grandchildren, Len, Cindy, Michael, Jolene, Christina, Mark, Jocelyn, Jennifer, Naomi, Kathleen and 13 great grandchildren, Victoria, Tyson, Alexandria, MacKenzie, Ireland, Gaetz, Ty, Kingston, Austin, Brett, Kaydence, Carter, and Hudson.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James and Florence McLeod, her brother Gordon, her sister Marney and her husband of 64 years, John.
A family gathering in honour of Joyce will be held at a later date.
