Charles "Charlie" McEachern
February 25, 1935 - November 24, 2015
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Charlie McEachern in Invermere, BC on November 24, 2015 at the age of 80 years.
Charlie was born on the Isle of Islay in Scotland on February 25, 1935 and led an interesting life. He was a farmer, soldier, mechanic, electrician, husband, father, accountant, entrepreneur, motorcycle racer, boater, pilot, piper, proud Scot and proud Canadian. He could not skate worth a damn, but he loved to watch his boys play hockey and spent many Winnipeg winter nights helping to make ice at the local rink. Charlie prepared countless tax returns over the years, and loved nothing more than a good battle with CRA. He was also a member and past-President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4281 Penticton.
Charlie ``slipped the surly bonds of earth`` with his loving wife of 24 years, Diana Briden, and his step- daughter Kim Harris-Gagatek at his side. He will be terribly missed by his sons, James (Kim) and Donald (Allison), all of Kelowna, BC, along with 6 step-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, and his `good wee dog` Roy. He will also be mourned by his former wife, Yvonne McEachern of Kelowna.
No service by request. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Charlie may do so to the East Kootenay S.P.C.A., PO Box 2, Cranbrook, BC V1C 4H6, or to the charity of their choice.
