Bill was one of my best friends -- a fine person , so keen about nature , the mountains in particular . I climbed Mt Gladsheim with Bill ; took fine slide of Bill by our tent . A storm chased us off that peak.' danger of lightning . Bill knew all of the concerns of environment . He even researched birds of Cranbrook Rockies. I had hoped to visit him in Cranbrook, but my health declined , driving car stopped , now placed in Churchill House - assisted living . Memories of the climbs with Bill are the most treasured . Rest, now Bill - I would best luckly meet you in the hereafter . Climbing friend , Jack ---- Oswald

Sorry to hear of Bill's passing. Wish we could have been at his celebration of life but just found out about his passing today. Richard worked with Bill for many years at Water Survey Of Canada beginning in May 1965. Their first trip was a 2 week tour measuring rivers and creeks in the Columbia Kootenay area. Richard was stationed in Vancouver at the time and Bill was working out of the Nelson office. In 1984 Richard was transferred from the Revelstoke office and again worked with Bill until his retirement.
Rest In Peace Bill.

Doug, so sorry to hear about your Uncle Bills passing.
Our family lived across the street from Bill for ten years. Bill loved the fact that our son Greg loved to read and Bill actually bought him a book that he has to this day. Greg is now 26 and the book was given to him when he was 6. Greg was also one of the lucky ones that was able to sample the goodies from Bill's vegetable garden. Many rhubarb pies and jams were enjoyed by both Bill and our family. Bill was quite the character and although he lived by himself was very sociable. He was also so precise about everything. Every vegetable had its place in the garden, his flowers (especially his mums) were cared for better than a lot of people are cared for. We also loved hearing about his climbing adventures and even got to see some slides from his Leica camera. That's something else my son loved to see was some of the older things Bill still had, even some from his childhood. We moved from Calgary almost 16 years ago but have some very fond memories of our wonderful neighbours in Cranbrook including Bill.
Bill will be missed.
May he rest peacefully.
Debbie, Fred and Greg Parsons
