1925 - 2011
Margaret Kellough passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family members at the Invermere Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 17, 2011.
Margaret was born in Friutigen, Switzerland April 7, 1925 and immigrated to Winderemere, B.C., with her family at the age of 12.
Margaret married Norman Kellough on January 2, 1945. While raising their 6 children in Invermere, Margaret became known as Àuntie Marg` by the many children she tended and cared for. When her children were grown, Margaret went to work in the kitchen of the Inveremere Hospital and remained there for many years.
Upon retiring Margaret tended to her mother, Rose (Granny) Trachsel. Shortly after her mother`s passing, Margaret and Norm moved to the Creston area where they spent many years gardening, and up in the mountains picking berries, gathering firewood, enjoying the wildlife and made many good friends.
Following Norm`s passing in 2004, Margaret returned to Radium near family and friends. Here she has spent several happy years gardening, camping, and travelling with daughter Doreen her husband Ken and spending treasured time with her children, grandchildren, great- and great-great grandchildren.
Margaret`s loving, caring nature was matched only with an inner strength that carried her to survive and fully recover from 2 separate battles with cancer.
Margaret will be missed as deeply as she was loved by her children: Margo Daugherty, Doreen (Ken) Persson, Liza/Norma Kellough, Linda Stuart, Gordon (Kyle) Kellough, Vaughn Kellough, and" adopted" daughters: Elaine(Chris) and Dot Sargent; her 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents Fritz and Rose Trachsel, her siblings Rose (Hugo) Olson, Helen (Roy) Clement, John (Jean) Trachsel, and Alfred Trachsel; her husband Norman Kellough, grandsons Kendall, Jimmy and John; and great-grandson Beckham.
Family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Doctors and staff of Invermere Hospital, staff of Columbia House, and Home Support staff for their kind support and professionalism.
Friends and family who wish to make a Memorial Tribute in Margaret`s name are invited to do so to the Columbia House in Invermere where she spent many pleasant afternoons.
A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends January 7, 2012 at 1:00 pm at the Windermere Hall. Refreshments will be provided and all are welcome.
