Obituary of Catherine Dietrich
Please share a memory of Catherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
1929 - 2011
It is with great sorrow that the family of Catherine Dietrich announces her passing on Thursday, November 17, 2011 in Cranbrook, British Columbia at 82 years of age.
Catherine was born on October 24, 1929 to Vincent and Caroline Ceravolo in Cranbrook. She took her schooling in Cranbrook and as a young woman worked as a nurses aid in hospitals in Cranbrook, Creston and Michel. She also worked at Overwaitea and Woolworths. In 1951 she met the love of her life Roy Dietrich and they married on September 1, 1951. Together, they worked and raised their three children Roy, David and Lori. Catherine and Roy were married 56 years at the time of Roy's passing. During the years of raising a family, Catherine took great pride in her children's accomplishments. Roy Jr. is a musician playing in different bands. David was a truck driver and later followed his fathers footsteps and is working on the railroad. Lori is an accomplished highland dance teacher. There wasn't many competitions that Catherine missed with Lori growing up. A highlight of this time would have to have been the trip to Scotland in 1985 to tour and see Lori compete there.
Cathy was also a very strong willed woman with strength that she showed when needed. A survivor of Breast Cancer, she became a regular volunteer and canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Catherine was also an active member of the Order Of The Royal Purple and she enjoyed bowling, crafts and of course cooking, especially her famous spaghetti for her family.
The simple things were tops with her, like lunch with the Golden Girls. Her grandchildren were always cherished by her and she knew what each was up to at any time and was always excited to spend time with them.
Cathy is survived by her children Roy and Karen Dietrich, David Dietrich, Lori and Ken Kepke, her grandchildren: Brianna Dietrich, Curtis, Branden, Kevin and Julie Dietrich, Kaylee and Austen Kepke, her sister Francis Dilts, her brother Louie Ceravolo and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Roy Wesley Dietrich, sisters Pauline Peterson, Teresa Quail and Lucy Glavin, her brother Dominic Ceravolo, and her parents Vincent and Caroline Ceravolo.
