1927 - 2011
It is with overwhelming sadness we announce the passing of Vern Becker at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. Vern quietly and optimistically fought cancer for 5 years.
Vern was born in Clavette, Saskatchewan and went to school in Saskatoon. He moved to Trail with Cominco and later Kimberley. His career with Cominco took him many places; the North West Territories, Spain, Alaska, the Philippines and Tasmania.
Vern was an avid curler and golfer. In later years he enjoyed travelling and playing bridge.
He will be terribly missed by his wife and best friend Jean; his children Grant (Tammy), Keith (Mila), Jaylinn (Don); Jeans sons Jeff (Jane), Tim (Susan), Todd (Brenda), Jay (Penny); his granddaughters Kelly (Brad), Brook (Josh), Alycia (Mike), Shawna (Chris), Tanya (Jay), Michelle, Kayla (Tyler), Jericho (Daryl) and Kimi; his grandsons Matt, Regan (Shannon), Josh, Brad, Miki and great grandsons Jordan, Micheal, Braxton and great granddaughter Jordan and special friend Debbie. He is also survived by his brother Al (Norma). sisters Cassie, Rose and Sue; his brother-in-law Alan (Diane); his sister-in-law Judi; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers John, Wilfred and Red; and his sisters Gert and Eileen.
Vern will be remembered at a celebration of his life at the Bootleg Gap on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
