Obituary of Marie Rose Manners

1921- 2011

Marie was born in Trail, British Columbia on June 21st, 1921. She married Jim Riley in 1942. They were married for thirty eight years before Jim passed away in 1980. They lived in Yellowknife, Fernie and Nelson and had three daughters: Mrs. Lenore (Len) McKenzie of Langley, B.C.; Mrs. Rose-Anne (Robert) Orr of Lethbridge, Alberta; and Mrs. Kathleen (Grant) Obara of Lethbridge, Alberta. Marie married Charlie Manners in 1983. They square danced in Cranbrook and outside Cranbrook for many years. Marie belonged to the Catholic Women's League for fifty years - a member of the Senior Citizens and also a member of the Senior Railway Pensioners of Cranbrook.

Marie was predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Mary McLaughlin - three brothers,

Lawrence, Tom and Isadore and two sisters Josephine and Loretta. She leaves to be

remembered, her loving husband Charlie, her three daughters Lenore, Rose-Anne, and Kathleen, and her six grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

A vigil and rosary for Marie will be held on Friday, October 7th, 2011 at 8:00 pm at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Cranbrook. Marie's funeral mass will take place at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Cranbrook on Saturday, October 8th, 2011 at 10:00 am. A reception will follow in the church hall.
