Obituary of Eddie Alfred Marchi

1931 - 2011

Eddie was born on February 5, 1931 in Michel, British Columbia. He started work in the Michel Mine at the age of 15 as a locomotive operator, and then worked at various CPR jobs in the East and West Kootenays before moving to Kimberley in 1961 where he worked for Tech Cominco as a labourer/millwright. He married the love of his life, Jessie, in 1958, and eventually settled in Kimberley, where they raised their family. Eddie enjoyed camping, gardening, and working in his shop.

Eddie passed away peacefully in the East Kootenay Regional Hospital surrounded by his family on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 80 years of age. He is survived by Jessie, his loving wife of 53 years and their three children - Alanna (Jim) Banman and their children, James (Kendra), Michael (Charity) and Josh; Allen (Dawn) Marchi and their children, Jake and Jaime Lyn (Shane and children, Justin and Shaylyn); Garret (Monica) Marchi and their children Iain and Andrew. He is also survived by: brothers Bruno (Itala) Marchi, Nino (Clara) Marchi and Orlando (Patricia) Marchi, sister Norma (Nicki) Carmelo and a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, Pietro and Rosa Marchi; brother Ray Marchi; and sisters Velia Leschuitta and Lica Polacik.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital ICU (Hospital Foundation for Health), or the Kimberley Rotary Club Shelter Box Program.

A Celebration of Life for Ed will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at McPherson Funeral Home in Kimberley, BC.
