1923 - 2011
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Fred William John Masuch announces his passing on Thursday, September 8, 2011 in Calgary, Alberta at Foothills Hospital.
Fred was born on August 6, 1923 in Rimby, Alberta. He was a sawyer for Galloway Lumber Company for 43 years. He retired to Rosen Lake Road until 2007 and then moved to Cranbrook.
Family and sports were a most important part of life for Fred. While in Galloway, Fred was involved in building a curling club, skating rink, tennis court and ball diamond. He was a member of the Masons and the Elks, loved golfing, fishing, tending his lawn and garden, travelling and camping.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 63 years May, his children Linda (George) of Vancouver Island, Fred (Marg) of Vancouver, Kristine of Whitehorse, Gord (Nicola) of Fruitvale, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his brother Elvin of Creston and his sisters Esther (Nelson) and Goldie of Kimberley.
A memorial luncheon for Fred will be held in the reception room at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook in on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 1:00 pm. His Interment will be in Sand Creek Cemetery in Jaffray at a later date.
