I called on Don in Edmonton when he opened Tilecraft Marble and Tile and we soon became friends. Unfortunetley, some years later when my family moved to Kelowna, we sort of lost contact with Don which I always regretted. I thoroughly enjoyed Don's unique brand of humour and his ability to organize. I'm glad to see Don had an interesting life and a good partner in his life. We will miss you, Mr. white socks. Doug and I were sorry to here of Don's passing. We have many good memories of school, dances, swimming, and parties. We always enjoyed Barb and Don's visits when they came to Swift Current. I will always remember him as Don the lifeguard, a man with a mission, a large heart and a helpful hand.
Our condolences to the family.

Sorry to hear of Don's passing. Don and I grew up together in Swift Current - played hockey, cards and enjoyed things at Elmwood school and Elmwood rink.
Sincere condolences to the families.

I am still trying to believe we lost you Don. You were a larger than life friend to those you held dear. I will always be greatful for the love and support you showed me. I will think of you very time I ride the motorcycle by the Ventura in Vermilion.
My thoughts, prayers and love

I am so sorry for the loss of this high energy charismatic man. My immediate memory was of a summer antic in Swift Current when Don thought it would be a great idea to go spear fishing for suckers at what is now the dammed river at the Landing. We swam all day and a few suckers ended up in Don's trunk. As we were leaving we were stopped by the local RCMP , who wanted to know what was in the trunk (suspecting illicit alcohol). Don warned them with a giggle, " I will open the trunk, but you don't want to look in there!"
Of course it was a brief examination of the trunk, but a day of continuous laughter and chatter.
At the last reunion I attended in Swift Current, Don sponsored a bottle of wine for each table in appreciation of his return to health after recovering from a life threatening challenge. He wanted people to remember him, and that will be an easy thing to do.

We got to know Don after he married my cousin Barb, life was never dull when Don and his many opinions on things were around ;politics, taxes, gun control were some of his favorites, would just LOVE to hear his comments about the recent NDP win in his beloved Alberta. He always said he and Barb wouldn't move to BC till the NDP were gone.He was a very diverse man with many interests and talents, the world will be a much poorer and duller place without him, will miss you and your wicked sense of humour and generous heart Don.
