Obituary of Janette Anita Wallach
Please share a memory of Janette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Born: August 15,1953 in Cranbrook, British Columbia
Went To Be With The Lord:
August 4, 2011 in Cranbrook, British Columbia
Jan lived in Brisco, British Columbia until the age of 7. Her family moved to Cranbrook in 1960 and then on to Wycliffe in 1964. She was married to Rick in 1975 and they lived in Marysville for the next 30 years before returning to Wycliffe in 2005.
Jan was a loving, caring person who was passionate about life. She was an active volunteer in the community who freely gave her time to many organizations and charities. This included the North Star Figure Skating Club, girls softball and most notably, for 14 years, as a director and canteen coordinator for Kimberley Minor Hockey. Jan enjoyed her job as a secretary for Selkirk Secondary School. She made many friends at her job and liked playing the odd practical joke on the staff. She continued to work through tough adversity and always appreciated the support of her co-workers. Her hobbies included flower gardening, fishing, golf, cooking, movies and bingo. Jan was a woman with heart and determination that rubbed off on all who knew her. She had great faith and a strong but gentle spirit. She was a fun and thoughtful mother, sister, daughter and wife. Jan loved her family and friends and she sadly was taken too soon from those that love her. She will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her loving husband Rick and their children Jason (Liane) and Kristy, her father Harold Nielson, sisters Patricia (Ken) Shafer, Denise (Dave) Sommerville, Chris (Ron) Becker, brothers Clifford Nielson (Tressa) and Keith (Cathy) Nielson. Jan was predeceased by her mother Betty Nielson earlier this year.
A memorial service for Jan will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the McKim Theatre in Kimberley. Donations in honour of Jan can be made to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
