Mary Dekker (nee Stone) 1930 - 2015 Mary was born on August 22, 1930 in Creston BC, on the Reserve, which was referred to as the Flats. She passed away peacefully at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook on Friday, March 6, 2015. Mary "Klun" was the eldest member of the Lower Kootenay Band. As a child, and into her teenage years, Mary attended the St. Eugene Mission Residential School in Cranbrook. Mary was grateful for the education she received at the Mission. Mom met her beloved Hank, and they were married May 5th, 1951. The Lord blessed them with seven children. As the years moved on, she was then blessed with beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary had a love for animals. She had numerous four legged friends over the years, that she loved dearly... There were too many to count! Mom, you now have a new home with your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. You will live forever in our memories and our hearts. We all truly miss you, and someday we will meet again! Mary is survived by her loving husband Hank; children Gary (Maryke), Gerald (Judy), Dick, Rita (Dean), Dan (Kathleen); her brother Andy Alexander (Florence); 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Keith, her daughter Angie and her granddaughter Lilly. A memorial service for Mary will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Wasa Community Church at 1:00 pm. She will be interred in the Fort Steele Cemetery following the memorial service. Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service. Condolences for the family can be offered at: www.mcphersonfh.com
