Obituary of Lawrence Isaac Reimer
August 31, 1936 - November 17, 2013
Larry was born in Nipawin, SK. He met his wife, Irene, in Saskatoon, SK, where they married, worked and raised their family. Larry's policing career began in 1957 with the Saskatoon City Police force. In 1963 he became a constable with R.M. of Corman Park, ultimately becoming its Chief of Police. In 1977 he switched career paths to become a WCB Claims Investigator where he stayed until his retirement in 1993.
Larry and Irene moved to the peaceful mountain setting of Kimberley, BC, where they spent their remaining years together. Larry's passion for fishing kept them both busy exploring the many crystal clear lakes and rivers in the area. Despite his love for the outdoors, however, Larry's main focus was always 'family first'. His generosity with his time and his uncanny ability to fix anything is legendary with family and friends.
Larry raised his family to enjoy life, love, laughter, the great outdoors - and a clean car. He was always available to lend a helping hand and loved to contribute however he could for the benefit of others.
Larry passed away with his family gathered by his side in 2013, and true to spirit he exclaimed, "It's been fun!" as his closing words. His death preceded Irene's, his wife of almost 60 years, by fifteen months. Left to mourn his passing are his three children: Lee (Don Lepp) Reimer, Laurie (Ken) Brewster and Dean (Jennifer Boyle) Reimer; three grandchildren: Jennifer (Jeremy) Siemens, Andrea (Trevor) Arnold and Taylor Brewster; three great-grandchildren: Emily, Oliver and Charlie Siemens; three half-brothers: Dennis (Twyla), Dale (Peggy) and Ken (Sharon) Reimer and their families; sister-in law: Sheila (Keith) Hawkins and their son Neil and his family; brother-in-law: Ian (Sylvia) Oliver and his family.
There was no funeral service. The interment of both Larry and Irene Reimer will take place in Saskatoon, SK, at a date to be determined.
