1940 - 2011
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Alvin John Peters announces his passing on June 25, 2011 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook at 70 years of age.
Alvin was born on December 4, 1940 in Speedwell, Saskatchewan to Elizabeth and Frank Peters. On December 9, 1961 he married Erna Thiessen. After getting married he worked as a herdsman on a farm in the Fraser Valley until 1966. In 1966 Alvin and Erna purchased a home in Yarrow. Al and his eldest brother Elmer ran a renovation business, which led to Al purchasing a dairy farm in Agassiz, BC in 1970. The farm was run as a family business until 1991. During this time Al and Erna raised their 3 kids spending many quality times boating at their cabin on Harrison Lake, vacationing by the ocean, or traipsing across BC to the next family reunion. After selling the farm in 1991 they moved to their hunting paradise in Wardner, BC. Here they built their retirement home and a peaceful retreat where Al spent his time helping neighbours, hunting, fishing, and planning the next trip.
Al will be missed by his loving family, hunting buddies, and close friends.
Al is survived by his beloved wife Erna, children: Debbie (Derrell) Folk, Les (Mandy) Peters, Nonie (Dave) Sherdahl, grandchildren: Jennifer, Alvin, Tony, Timothy, Tessa, and Mason, great grandchildren: Derek and Kaden, as well as his siblings Norm (Betty), Arlyss (Esther), and Esther (Lawrence) Nehr.
Al is predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and Frank Peters, and siblings Viola, Elmer, and Irene.
