July 15, 1948 - January 10, 2025
It is with deep pain and sadness that I announce the passing of my much loved wife Geraldine Siemens, I will love and miss her forever.
Geri left us in the early morning hours of January 10th, 2025, in her 76th year following a lengthy struggle with cancer. Geri's will to live was strong.
Geri came to Cranbrook at the age of two, she spent most of her life in Cranbrook and then the Moyie area for the last 32 years. While in Cranbrook she worked mainly as a bar tender at many of the numerous bars, she was particularly proud of being the first female to work the bar at the Byng hotel. During her years at Moyie Geri enjoyed hobby farming and participating in the development and caring for our acreage. Geri enjoyed fishing, bush drives, quilting, embroidery, and in our retirement, motorhome tours together wherever the road took us. She was a great cook and pie maker and put out many great holiday dinners for family. It must also be remembered that until the last ten years or so she enjoyed spending time with friends over a glass or two, and a bit of pool at the local pub. Geri loved and cared for her pets with passion and love as they loved her.
Being with her grandchildren filled her heart with joy and love the most, she loved them all. Kimberly, Joseph, Logan, and Colton.
Geri was predeceased by her father Angus James Munro, her mother Cordelene Legere, brother Victor Munro, father-in-law Herman Siemens, mother-in-law Gertrude Siemens, brothers-in-law Harvey Friesen, and George Siemens, stepfather Felix Legere, uncle Herman Legere, and half-brother Mathew Legere.
Geri is survived by her husband Henry of 48 years, her children Andrea Schiffers, and Herbert Huber, her grandchildren Kimberly, Joesph, Logan and Colton, half-brother David Legere, half-sister Beverly Woods, her brother and sister in-laws Eric and Beverly Huber, nieces Jodi Huber, Christy Huber, Shandell Woods, nephews Cody Huber, Nolan Woods, and Jason Woods.
Today, the day of composing my wife's obituary, I stumbled on this poem and as I read it I recalled her telling me that she had written a poem. My darling Geri today I will share your beautiful writing and soul.
I AM SEVENTY FIVE YEARS OLD
And I am an old women now,
Have earned the gray hair,
I have earned the wrinkles,
I have earned the aches and the pains,
I have played hard,
I have worked hard,
I have partied hard,
And most of all I have loved hard,
I have loved every dog l ever had,
I have loved every kitty I ever had,
I have loved so many friends and family,
And most of all I have loved my husband.
The man who taught me to fish,
The man who taught me to trust again,
The man who taught me to be me,
The man who loved me because I was who l was,
Geri will live on in the hearts and minds of all who love her, her smile and light will not be forgotten.
At Geri's request there will be no funeral.
