Obituary of Brandon Wade Magotiaux

Please share a memory of Brandon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Brandon Wade announces his passing, December 2024 after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Brandon was born in Cranbrook to Carrie Marshall in 1988.  Upon Carrie’s untimely passing in 1992 he was adopted by his grandparents Mark and Fairy.

In his youth he was involved in ball (coached by Mark and Ken Dodgeson), hockey, cub scouts, #27 linebacker for the youth Rocky Mountain Rams football club, and won  awards in science and art.  Brandon was an avid skiier and outdoorsman, especially enjoying fishing with his son Mason and dog Lucy,  and time with family.  He was a journeyman scaffolder working in Sparwood, Merit and the north, followed by a change to construction assistant/framer in the East Kootenays.  He was especially proud of his Norwegian Viking heritage and of an Indigenous line tracing back to the early Red River Settlement.

Brandon was very passionate about music,  attending/later years working the Shambala Pagoda stage, and given his vision/creativity was very involved with the development and working of the Ursus stage at Wicked Woods, Invermere.  He was an avid cook, inviting family and friends  to home cooked meals, cook-offs, raiding his mother’s spice cupboard.  Green thumb extraordinaire, he had a house full of plants, enjoyed gaming with Mason and friends, and collecting.  He was a big man with an even bigger heart,  spending his later years living in Kimberley BC and was so appreciative of community support and many friendships made.

Brandon is survived by his mother Fairy, son Mason, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was predeceased by his dad Mark, grandparents Alf and Evelyn Rasmussen, Firmin and Julia Magotiaux, cousins Jonathan Magotiaux and Jill Welby.
