Annette Audrey Gallagher (nee McKay) age 89 years passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024 at Joseph Creek Care Home with her daughter Denise Sherratt at her bedside. Annette was born on June 16, 1935 in Yorkton Saskatchewan to John Richard McKay and Lillian Isabel McKay (nee Gaunt). She was the seventh child of nine children.

The McKay Family lived in Flin Flon, Manitoba before moving to BC where they settled on a homestead in Westbridge, BC.

When she was a teen she moved out on her own to make her way in the world. Her first stop was in Trail, BC where while working as a waitress at the Crown Point Hotel, she met Darlene Gallagher. They became great friends and Darlene convinced Annette to move on with her to her hometown of Creston, BC where she met Darlene’s oldest brother Norman.

After a whirlwind romance of only three months the couple were married on October 31st, 1953. They went on to have four children, Norann, Carolynn, Denise and Darrol.

Annette and Norman were married for sixty five years before the passing of Norman in July 2019. Mom moved into Joseph Creek Care Home a short time before Dad passed away. Mom was always the most happy when she was hosting Family dinners. She was the most amazing cook, her pies, bread and buns were first class. There was nothing Mom couldn’t cook. All her meals were done to perfection and enjoyed by everyone.
