It has taken a while to be able to write this. I miss Dennis. His phone calls were always a treat and the get-togethers were treasured. I always felt better after talking to Dennis, no matter what was going on in my life. His interest was always on who he was talking to. I will always remember the times we spent working together – some of the best times in that office. How many times they closed the door on our little room because “ there shouldn’t be that much laughter in a government office”. Dennis never failed to amaze me with the topics he was more than ready to discuss. Guy things like cars, tools, etc. to be sure but also rare types of fish, cross country skiing, bicycles, music, women’s fashions (hilarious!) …. the list goes on and on. The days are not quite as bright as they were a while ago.
I’ll see you down the road, amigo.

I was lucky to have met and worked with Denis in the late 1980’s. We had some fun times working outside monitoring forestry contractors. Denis was incredibly funny and always had a joke that made us laugh and brightened our day. I was overdue for a visit with him and regret not seeing him for a while. It’s so sad to lose such a great guy and a good friend.
So long Denis, we will miss you Buddy!!

We remember Dennis as a warm, loving and friendly familymember. We always looked forward meeting him when we visited the family in Canada. We still use some of his English-Dutch phrases such as ‘trusten well’ and ‘hoe ist’ (pronounce as who east). He made campfires in the backyard for us and showed us some beautiful spots in the area. He was also busy with his motorbike in his garage.
Dennis, we miss you. Thanks for all the good conversations and the fun time we had together. Have a good bikeride up there!
Our thoughts are with MaryLou, Lucas&Alana and Maryn&Mat.

I was so sad to hear of this huge loss to family and friends.I will truly miss our road trips to various car shows. Dennis was always fun to be with, during these events. He had a real passion for old hotrods. I enjoyed our many chats about biking, skiing, cars, and family. We sat having coffee many times just talking about the next fun thing to do. My heart goes out to his family. Rest In Peace Dennis.

What a great guy. After my accident and cancer he stopped me in town and offered hope and encouragement. To stop in Wardner and visit him has been on my list of things to do for the last year. Yes, enjoy the little things but also don't wait too long to say the things you want to say. I first met Dennis during his stint as a Mines Inspector... a difficult job, but Dennis had the respect of all his clients. (Glen Rodgers)

I met Dennis at some point in 1990 while employed by the Forest Service, what a fantastic guy, so funny, I would see him often as our paths crossed many times. The encounters were always memorable to say the least. I loved that he drove around in old police cars, made my day when I saw him cruise by.

Working with Dennis in our Water Stewardship group was one of the highlights of my career in Government Service. Dennis brought a balance to our daily routine. While we had our fair share of work to tackle, his constant humor and optimistic perspective; he never failed to bring a smile to our faces with his comical approach.
Rest in Peace my friend.
Wishing the family strength and support from the people around you.

Sending you love and strength as you all navigate through this challenging period.
Dennis was hard working, an avid athlete who had a witty personality. He was passionate about his health, sports, music, and cars. He was proud of his family and loved them deeply. He will be greatly missed. RIP - love from the Ontario Vogels clan.

This is indeed sad news. The day was always brighter when I received an unexpected phone call from Dennis or I met him downtown. We always laughed. Rest in peace, my friend.
