Obituary of Rena McNiven
Please share a memory of Rena to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mom and wife, Rena McNiven on Wednesday August 14th at the age of 89. She passed peacefully with her family by her side.
Rena was born in Bethune Saskatchewan September 18, 1934. It was when she moved to Regina Saskatchewan that she met our dad Andrew ( Lolly) McNiven. They were married on March 4th 1961 and shortly after moved to Kimberley B.C. to help his brother Ray McNiven and wife Mavis with maintenance of the Regal Lanes Bowling Alley. Mom loved bowling and participated in many bowling tournaments. She also loved playing bingo, the lottery, watching hockey, curling and a die-hard Saskatchewan Rough Riders fan.
She is survived by her husband Andrew (Lolly) McNiven, children; Gwen (Chris), Ralph (Emily), Lynn (Todd) and their 5 grandkids whom she loved greatly; Travis, Maya and Zairah and Landen and Riley. Her Sister Eve (and Family) and cousins. Her McNiven side of the family and many dear friends who were like family. She was predeceased by her parents and three siblings.
She was an amazing loving mother, grandmother (bubba) and friend. We are going to miss her. Her parting words were “Well, I guess that’s it!” and “GO RIDERS”
Rena’s celebration of life will be held at Lynn’s house ( 848 301st Street ) in Kimberley on Saturday September 14th from 1-4. Please come by and help us celebrate our mom. Snacks and non- alcohol refreshments will be provided.
Please note Lynn’s house is SCENT FREE due to a medical condition. Please do not wear any colognes/perfumes/ essential oils or strongly scented products. Sincere thanks.
