Obituary of Dwight Joseph Francoeur
Please share a memory of Dwight to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dwight Joseph Francoeur, 78, of Cranbrook, British Columbia, passed away on December 14, 2023.
Dwight is survived by his wife Gloria, his children Dawn and Shawn, and his brothers and sisters, Peggy (Orsak), Larry, Marion (Burchby), Jim and Pat.
Born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Dwight moved to Calgary in 1967 to attend SAIT, and upon graduation commenced a 31 year career working ANG (TransCanada Pipelines) first in the Crowsnest Pass, then in Calgary and Cranbrook.
From childhood, Dwight was intellectually curious and enjoyed building and fixing all things (go-carts, woodworking, mechanical, electronics and houses), trying new things (such as randomly picking an item from a menu in another language) and embarking on new projects. First to laugh at his own jokes (a trait that he passed down), lover of a bargain (also passed down), he was generous with his time and quick to lend a hand.
His love of spending time in Princess Auto was only surpassed by his love of flying. Obtaining his pilot’s licence in the mid-80’s and purchasing his first plane shortly after that. Dwight enjoyed visiting family and friends in Saskatchewan and Alberta and attending flying rallies in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and Nunavut.
We appreciate and are deeply thankful for all the attention and kindness Dwight received from the staff in the Jim Smith unit at Joseph Creek Village.
Dwight was a loving and supportive husband and father. He is truly missed.
A Celebration of Life in Dwight’s honour will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Saturday August 17th at 2:00 pm with a tea reception to follow.
