Brenna & family, we are so sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. We only knew him for a short period when we went on our trip to China but certainly enjoyed his company & his stories. He was a most interesting & enjoyable man & will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Our sincere condolences to the family on the loss of your Dad and Grandpa. Jimmy was a kind soul and always had a smile and the best laugh. The kids remember playing in the Cluny Store and bragging to their friends that they knew the Mayor of Cluny. Jimmy may have been small, but he was larger than life. Jimmy will forever be in our hearts, and I will cherish our many years of friendship. Unfortunately, we are unable to attend the celebration of life but please know our thoughts are with you.

I can still hear Jimmy laugh from decades ago! As a kid growing up next to the Hong family, we had a great childhood. We loved going over to the Hongs to play and over to their General store. Every time I walked into the store, Jimmy would signal to me to come over to the butcher shop. He would give me a slice of bologna which was so good! Tommy was one of my best friends and we had many adventures. I treasure those memories.
I think we got along well as families because the Hongs were Chinese-Scottish and us Fagan kids were Irish-Chinese, in the beautiful little hamlet of Cluny!
God bless the Hongs!

What a truly wonderful and beloved man Jimmy was! I too, LOVED Jimmy (& the whole Hong family) beyond measure. Much of my childhood was spent playing at the Hong house with my first, best buddy Meiling, & Jimmy was usually not far away with a comical quip and a quick Jimmy chuckle. I too recall regular visits to the ‘magical’ Hong’s Store to visit Jimmy & Popo Hong (where he’d always sneak me a rolled up slice of macaroni & cheese deli meat, and Popo would then sneak me some candy …

(cont’d)… sneak me some candy after she’d first mesmerized me with her special nail-stick with which she’d knock down canned goods! I just loved those special Hong Store visits & loved every moment spent with Jimmy. He always took time to pay attention to kids & loved to make us smile & giggle. He was such a good man, adored and appreciated by many. How grateful I am to have had Jimmy as such a kind and caring almost daily presence in my formative years. Love to you all Hongs! ❤️Joanie Fagan

Jimmy was an essential part of life in Cluny, and we were blessed by getting to know Jimmy & his family in the seventies & eighties. His trademark smile was a warm welcome. What a generous community-minded soul he was.
