Obituary of Calvin Alliston Palmer
Please share a memory of Calvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Calvin Alliston “Cal” Palmer on May 31, 2024. Cal passed away after a lengthy illness at home with his family by his side.
Cal spent the majority of his youth in Fredericton N.B. with his parents Hubert & Janie Palmer, brother Eric, and sister Vanessa where he enjoyed cars and sailing Hobie Cat sailboats and was a member of Sea Cadets for many years. He worked for CNR Railroad before moving to Elkford, B.C. in 1979 and worked at Fording River Coal Mine (TECK). He soon met his loving wife Tracy and they were married in August of 1980. Cal worked at the coal mine for 34 years before retiring early at 60 and moved to Cranbrook in 2014.
Cal’s time in Elkford was spent raising his sons and enjoying time with Tracy, camping, boating, snowmobiling, quadding and working on cars with his sons and many friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ilona Amstutz for her compassionate and professional support and the palliative nursing staff of Interior Health for their kind and caring help.
Cal will be truly missed by his family and friends, and as he would say “Don’t sweat the small stuff.”
Wise words we all should carry with us, to live life and love and don’t worry about all the silly little hurdles life brings.
Cal is survived by his wife Tracy, brother Tai Palmer (Tammy), sons Joshua Palmer and Phillip Palmer (Kourtnie), grandson Hudson, as well as man nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in-law.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Cranbrook Health Care Auxiliary.
