As a kid I was always excited when a letter from Aunt Jean to my Mom (her sister Lois) would arrive. Mom would read out parts of the letters. Aunt Jean had a real talent for letter writing - it was easy to imagine the gardens she was describing, the beautiful mountain hikes, the interesting adventures of her and Gil and the kids, etc. Her wonderful sense of humour also always came through at various points in those letters:) I also enjoyed hearing the stories my Mom told of growing up with her siblings - Jean, Helen and George. The teasing, senses of humour and experiences they shared growing up led to a lot of interesting stories - and Aunt Jean was often at the center of many of them!
I am inspired by Aunt Jean's devotion to her family, service to others and her deep faith. She will be missed by many people. My heart goes out to all my cousins and their families at this time.

We met Mrs Cartwright a few times when we visited Carol and Jack in BC. We appreciated to talk with her. She was very welcoming and generous of herself.
We keep very good memories of her.

Jean was one of George's favourite sisters!--and also mine. Her great sense of humour is what I remember best. She could make a joke about any topic in conversation.
Our trips "out west" and their visits east are the highlights of my memory. Many good times were had by all.
I wear a Cross necklace that I received at Church in Cranbrook, going with Jean. Her good will to others will always be remembered. She will now be happily reunited with Gil.

Aunt Jean was one of a kind and always had a good story to share. She welcomed me and eventually my family into her home on numerous trips west from Ontario and yes a delicious roast beef dinner. I was always captivated by her independent spunk, her mastery of a sling shot and good aim with mints, stories of cutting down her own Christmas tree alongside a highway, and the many mountain adventures she had out west. Her stories of growing up in Dunrobin and various antics she got up to as a child were always interesting. Her use of humour and her Dunrobin accent are fondly remembered. She came and cared for my mom for and extended period when she was dying of cancer and I was never able to thank her enough for her support and love during that difficult time for our family. Angels walk among us on earth and she was one of them.
Wishing her family strength through many of the happy memories she gave us all.
