Obituary of Kathryn Anne Dougall

Please share a memory of Kathryn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Kathryn Anne Dougall, who passed peacefully

in Cranbrook Hospital on the morning of Tuesday, April 9, 2024 after a difficult battle with breast cancer.

Kathy was born on April 28, 1958 in Belleville, Ontario, the daughter of Gerald and Margaret Goyer.

Thirty years ago, she married the love of her life, Ian Dougall, and loved her step-daughters Devon Rae, Kylee, and Talus Dougall as her own. She adored her grandchildren, Braden and Liam Trenchard, Dylan Rae, Kalem Rae, Myranda Rae, Curtis Rae, and more recently Leroy Durrant.

They brought her endless joy and were the apple of her eye.

Her family was central in her life and she is survived by her siblings, Steve (Gail), Laura, Dianne, and David (Tracy) Goyer. Also survived by one niece Emma, and three nephews Matt, Nick (Beth), and Griff.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents, and her beloved Ian only six months ago.

Kathy was known for her beautiful soul. She was always elegant and composed. Her creativity was showcased in her beautiful gardens and in the fabulous costumes she had so much pleasure in creating. She took pride in decorating and caring for her homes and the love for her family and friends was always apparent by the photos she displayed all around her home.

Her 30 year career in banking at Cranbrook Scotiabank introduced her to many of the special friendships she cherished. She had a passion for and special connection with the friends she made and the years she spent paddling on the “Abreast in the Rockies”  Dragon Boat Team.

She had wonderful memories of travel to Europe, Hawaii, Palm Springs and lastly of her home in Cabo San Lucas where she gained a new circle of friends who were charmed by her laughter and sweet personality. She was a warrior as she battled through both her own and Ian’s journey with cancer. She did it with the capability and resilience that she was known for. Kathy was always even-tempered and patient. Always thoughtful and kind.

She was organized and detail oriented and her intelligence was apparent throughout all of her endeavours.

Always beautiful, always composed, Kathy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever be treasured by those fortunate enough to have known her.

An informal gathering of close friends and family to celebrate and honor Kathy’s life will be held on Sunday, April 14th, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm, at Kathy and Ian’s home in Cranbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation, a cause close to her heart.

Though Kathy may no longer walk among us, her spirit will live on in the memories and hearts of those she touched. May she rest in eternal peace, in the arms of her loving Ian, knowing her impact on this world will never be forgotten.

Kathy, you will be dearly missed… Until we meet again.
