Lil, we were heartbroken to hear that Don has passed. Our heartfelt condolences to you, Tracy, Carrie and Danica. We will remember Don as a good friend and a generous man. You were our first neighbors when we arrived in Invermere 25 years ago. When they walked to school down your driveway, Barbara and Jaime were always greeted with watchful eyes and your friendly smiles. Don helped us to transform our backyard into a playground. He directed the contractors who built the large addition to our home. We’re thankful that we’ve remained good neighbors even after our family moved to another part of town. Don was the guy I called whenever we had a home repair problem. He’d offer good advice and would often show up unexpectedly to help. I golfed and fished with Don many times and we enjoyed lots of stories and laughs. Some of the best times were spent chatting on your porch or hanging out in the garage. The last time we saw you and Don, both of our families were enjoying the Valley Voices Christmas Concert. What a wonderful evening. Don will be missed and fondly remembered. Wishing you peace and comfort.

Don was a fine gentleman and his contractor's knowledge, experience (and contacts) were beyond compare. I was very fortunate to have had Don as a chaperone on our high school band trip to Cochrane, Alberta in the late 1980s. I will confess, though, that after the students had been billeted out it was my idea for the guys on chaperone duty to go to a Calgary Cannons' baseball game. I'm glad that Don enjoyed it as much as anyone!
At Christ Church Trinity Don did a fantastic job as head of the administration committee, and his proactive approach to maintenance will hold us all in good stead for a number of years. Thanks again for all your work, Don!
It was a pleasure knowing you, Don, and here's until we meet again.

Mr Steinwand. Don, Grandpa Don was a great man who will be surely missed and lived on by great memories held by many whose lives he’s touched. He always welcomed me with a big hug, lots of great stories and a little bit of fatherly advice. Whenever I’d come visit he’d go out of his way to make sure I’d have a blast, traipsing in knee high snow to get the perfect Christmas tree, finding a canoe to borrow for a river paddle or inviting my family to a friend’s house for a day paddling, quadding, and trading stories by the fire. Great memories I treasure dearly.
Love to Carrie, Danica, Lillian and Tracy.
