Obituary of Dona Mae Bannink

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dona Bannink at the age of 87 years. A kind and genuine person, Dona was loved by many. She will be greatly missed by her husband Doug, daughters Cathy and Carole, grandson Ryan, nieces and nephews, as well as friends.

Dona was a schoolteacher and for a number of years was co-owner of High Country Sportswear. When Dona and Doug moved to Cranbrook in 1965, they joined the Gyro Club where they made many lifelong friends. Her other circles of friends included members of the Cranbrook Ladies Golf Club, the Hospital Auxiliary, the Eastern Star and her Bridge Club. She was a volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society, the B.C. Senior Games and the B.C. Summer Games.

At Dona’s request, there will not be a service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2024.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
