I have many fond memories of happy and fun times with Neil including our tennis games during noon hours at work, getting together with him and Lynda at various functions as well as at Laughlin during winter holidays. I also had the pleasure of working with him at D Div HQ where he would always endeavour to find ways to help members encountering financial services problems. He was a fine gentleman who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Our love and caring to the family. Fred & Laura Ross

I think it was the fall of 1988. I had booked myself onto the Cranbrook golf course as a single. You never know who you would get paired up with. There was another guy on the 1st tee. We made some short introductions and we hit off the 1st tee. Holy cow did that guy ever have a short back swing: perhaps no backswing at all! As we strolled down the 1st hole the conversation continued. Neil stated he was from Brookdale, Manitoba and I followed up with “hardly” as I was from Brookdale, Mb. and I knew everyone from there; or so I thought. Thus started our journey with Neil and Lynda Dickson. I am not too sure how many games we golfed over the next 7-8 years: but it was never enough. Barb and I were invited into Lynda and Neil’s home and their lives. It was an absolutely wonderful trip. It was off to Fort McMurray for us, with annual junkets back to Cranbrook. Neil kept incredibly busy. He was a tough guy to track down. He was certainly part of the “old guard”. If we could all be a little bit like Neil, the world would be a much better place.

My sincere condolences to Neil’s family during a time of great loss. Our family histories are long and our connections to Manitoba, Yukon, NWT, and BC made the friendship tight. Neil was such a light - willing to give anything for the people he cared about. I’ll always remember his kindness, warmth, and love for life! Rest in peace now, Neil ❤️

Our sincere condolences to the family. I have very fond memories of Neil up in Whitehorse where my Dad was stationed with Neil. Going to the mess hall, curling club and Neil always laughing and joking with us girls. Later running into Neil while I was living in Cranbrook on the city streets of Cranbrook. I will cherish his smile forever.

I was a ‘61 M Troop mate. I was 22 years old & Neil look like 14 to me, but he was 19 and a great athlete, particularly gifted for the sport of curling. In 1974, as part of the Ontario team, I witnessed Neil skipping his BC rink to victory of the national Police curling championship. Neil was blessed with an infectious personality. You like him instantly. We’ll him. God bless the families.

Neil and I became golf and curling buddies about 30 years ago. Attached is a photo of us at the 1998 4-Man Tournament at the Cranbrook Golf Club (Neil, me, John Gerrard, Dan Flegel). We shared many great memories at the course and on the ice. Over the past decade or so we met for breakfast every Friday morning, where we would catch up on the week, reminisce about the old days and, in the fall, do our NFL pool picks. Fridays won't be the same. So long old Buddy.

I lived around the corner from the Dickson's in Kelowna and became friends with the boys. Shawn and I were the same age, so we became good friends. I got to meet Neil a few times in Kelowna and once in Winnipeg, even got a round or two of golf in with him. He was always very nice to me. I know that the boys really looked forward to their time with their Dad. Brenda and I would like to pass on our condolences to the family. May the many great memories help ease the pain of the loss. RIP Mr. Dickson.

Our condolences to Neil's children and grandchildren. We were stationed together in Yellowknife, and stayed in contact for many years after. Lynda and Neil were known to arrive at our door with "the fixings for an Irish Coffee", after dinner at one of the local restaurants in town!! We were surprised to read that Holly lives in the same town as us...small world for sure! We are sure you will miss him but share your memories often. RIP Neil! I first met both Neil and Lynda at work in Winnipeg in the mid 1970’s. Our paths next crossed in the Yukon Territory in 1983 when Neil & Lynda flew into Dawson City and we went for lunch before I toured them around the community. When I was leaving the Territory in 1986 from Whitehorse, Neil stopped by the house to pass on his best wishes and delivered a Yukon flag as a souvenir. Our paths crossed again, back in Manitoba in the 1990’s, before we both retired. I always found Neil to be very supportive and more than helpful. I wish Neil’s family the very best in their grief.
“ Stand Easy” Neil!

So sorry to hear of Neil’s passing. My husband Bob and I met Neil and Lynda when we lived in cranbrook many years ago. Bob and Neil met on the golf course and were shocked to learn they were both from Brookdale/Neepawa.
Neil was a great man always smiling and a great story teller. A loss to the community for sure.
Rest in peace Neil you’ve earned it.
