Please share a memory of Ian to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ian James McIntyre Dougall on Oct 6, 2023, in Cranbrook, BC, at the age of 65. Born in Cranbrook on November 16, 1957, Ian lived a life filled with love, laughter and countless cherished memories.

Ian leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Kathryn (Kathy Goyer) Dougall, and his devoted daughters; Devon Rae (Sean), Kylee Dougall (Joseph), and Talus Dougall (Mike). Ian’s legacy also shines brightly in his grandkids; Braden, Liam, Dylan, Kalem, Leroy, Curtis and Myranda, who were a source of immense joy in his life.

He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Sauviat and Robin (Herb) Langin; brother, Morley (Gayle) Dougall; sisters-in-law, Dianne and Laura Goyer, and brothers-in-law; Steve (Gail) and David (Tracy) Goyer. The joys of extended family included niece and nephews; Emma, Matt, Nick and Griffy Goyer, Ben (Kristi) Sauviat, Greg (Carmen) Sauviat, Britta (Dan) Boudreau, and Rebecca (Myles) York.

Ian was predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret (Berg) Dougall; In-Laws, Gerald and Margaret Goyer, and his brother-In-law, Joe Sauviat.

Passionate about golf, when he wasn't playing or watching golf, Ian could be found practicing his swing or sharing stories from the course. Winters in Cabo, surrounded by dear friends, golf courses, ocean breezes and the warmth of the sun, inspired some of his fondest memories. A talented woodworker and craftsman, Ian took pride in creating beautiful furniture, each piece reflecting his meticulous nature and love for his craft. He was a natural handyman who could pretty much accomplish anything he put his mind to. His dedication was evident in his longstanding career at the Pulp Mill. While there he was not only respected for his brilliance but also loved for his charismatic nature.

As an ardent music lover, Ian’s playlists he created for weddings, family gatherings and happy hour around the pool in Cabo, will forever echo in the hearts of his loved ones. His sense of humor, inquisitiveness and affection for a good glass of red wine or a cold cerveza made moments with him genuinely unforgettable.

In line with Ian’s wishes, there will be no formal service. In his memory, we kindly ask that donations be made to the BC Cancer Foundation, STARS or The Children’s Hospital.

In these trying times, words seem insufficient, but our family wishes to express our deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support we’ve received. A special note of appreciation goes out to the medical staff, especially Dr. Kari Nishi and Dr. Kevin McIver who showed immense dedication, understanding, kindness and care. A heartfelt thank you to Kylee Dougall for her intuitive and compassionate caregiving. We will never forget the time you gave us and the love you shared.

Rest easy Ian. Your spirit, warmth and love will forever be remembered and cherished. Love you always.
