I was so sorry to hear of Johnny's death . We never taught in the same schools but we spent such a lot of time working together when he donated his sabbatical year to the CDTA in leading the bargaining team through some difficult times. He cast a big shadow! Our sincere condolences to you Lyalla, and your family, Roger Granville-Martin

I remember Johnny as a teacher and curler.
He was one of my favourite elementary teachers, having taught me in grade five at Amy Woodlands Elementary School. I was also fortunate to have Mr. Lancaster teach one of my sons in grade six at Gordon Terrace Elementary School. He loved athletics!
As a fellow curler, Johnny was a true sportsman both on and off the ice.
My condolences to Lyalla and family.

So many wonderful memories of Johnny at The lake.
The dedication to fastball in the summer.
Sailing lessons for the kids.
Card games on the porch - with refreshments.
Flying squirrels in the cabin.

He was a wonderful man. A friend to many.

Uncle Johnny & Auntie Lyalla have been such a large part of the Torresan family. For me over the past 45 years.
They always welcomed everyone to Tie Lake's annual family reunion. To water sking, playing darts, bochi balls and camping.
You could always find Uncle Johnny late at night, around a blazing fire, jamming with some of his favorite people, singing and playing the bongo drums.
He took us to one of the biggest adventures I have ever had. The waterfalls! Circling in the pool that led into throwing you over the falls into the crisp, cold, green water and swimming against the current to make land. So much fun!
I will miss his spirit for life!
Condolences to Auntie Lyalla and family.
Love,
Denise, Sean & Ashley

My deepest sympathy to Lyalla, Paige, Travis, and their families on John's passing. I enjoyed working with Johnny at G.T. I also enjoyed being friends with Lyalla and John and getting together on Fridays at our weekly Board meetings. Johnny enjoyed chess and set up the school chess clubs in the district. He also set up the annual track meets in the district. John was enthusiastic about whatever he did. We all will miss him , his sense of humour, and his big smile. Lyalla and family, may your good memories of John sustain you over the coming years. Marilyn Fontana
