Obituary of George Terrence Blackburn
Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Terrence Blackburn on
September 19, 2023 at home surrounded by his family.
Terry was born and raised in Montreal and it was there he met and married Eileen. They moved to Labrador for a short time, where they welcomed their daughters before settling in Fernie.
They retired in Cranbrook to be closer to family.
One of Terry's greatest loves in life was golf, a passion he shared with his soulmate Eileen. Terry found solace and joy on the course and was thrilled when his grandsons picked up the clubs and joined him. His dedication to perfecting his swing, the peace he found on the fairways and greens and the comradery he shared with fellow golf enthusiasts, who knew him as "Blackie", were a testament to his unwavering love for the game.
Terry is survived by the love of his life Eileen, as well as their daughters Tracy and Debbie (Rod).
He was a proud grandfather to Brandon, Shawn (Ciara), Brooke and Joss and a loving brother to Brian and sister Carol (Bill). Terry also had many extended family members and friends that he loved dearly and spoke about often. He will also be missed by his "girls" Sophie and Katie who brought much joy to his life.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents Ann and Edgar.
In accordance with Terry's wishes there will be no formal service. Terry/Dad/Pops took a piece of our hearts with him, but he leaves behind his love and a lifetime of cherished memories that his family will celebrate and keep in their hearts forever.
The family is grateful for the amazing care team Terry had by his side during his last few months.
Their presence, kindness and support was very appreciated.
May Terry/Dad/Pops rest in eternal peace, perhaps teeing off on the heavenly fairways, surrounded by the love and warmth he shared with us all.
