Gretchen, Karen, Peter and families, my condolences. I had the pleasure of working with Sever over the span of four decades when I served as CEO of ASTTBC. Sever was one of the founding members in 1958 with member # 007. I can’t recall the number of times at small gatherings and major ASTTBC awards events when I spoke about our own 007 - ‘James Bond’. Sever’s leadership and support for ASTTBC was exemplary. I am better as a person and professional because of our connection. Memories are vivid and live on.

Gretchen, Karen, Peter and families. I just became aware of Sever’s passing and wanted to share my condolences. I had the pleasure of working with Sever (and Connie) at the City of Coquitlam in the mid to late 1980’s. His impact on me personally and professionally continues to this day. He was a true leader in our industry and profession. As member #007 in the Society of Engineering Technologists and Technicians of BC (now ASTTBC) he was literally “at the table” when our professional body was formed in 1958. He lead by example and many of us at Coquitlam benefited from his leadership/mentorship. So sorry for your loss. Know that his memory lives on in many of us. Rest in peace Sever.

I was very blessed to meet Sever through the Kimberley Mining Railway.
As my Mum grew up in Kimberley around the time Sever did, I used to ask Sever about the “old times.” He was always happy to indulge me and answer all my questions.
One day, as I turned to leave, Sever said “Tap ‘er light!”
I had not heard that since my Uncle Keith, a Sullivan miner, passed.
I told Sever that and once again Sever came through, telling me the origin of that term. That really meant a lot to me. That then became our regular goodbye greeting
Though I didn’t know Sever long, I sure liked him. I shall remember his kindness and generosity for the rest of my days. Thank you, Sever.
Tap ‘er light, my friend.

Condolences to all of Severs family. He was a great neighbour on Levirs Ave. Shared many a storey over high snowbanks. Missed him when he moved but he returned for a chat when driving around town with his friend from railway.
