Obituary of Donna Louise Salvador

Donna Louise Salvador (Lindstrom) “Nana”

1933—2023

Donna was born to Arthur and Mildred Lindstrom on May 20, 1933 in Rocky Mountain House, AB. Their family moved to Nordegg, AB where she attended early school until 1946 when they moved to Creston, BC. Donna attended Prince Charles Secondary School and was crowned Miss Creston in 1950.

Donna first met Gino Salvador in 1947, and after a brief move to Fernie BC, she returned to Creston and they married on August 7, 1954. After a short move to Riondel BC, they settled back in Creston where they raised their two daughters Debbie and Shelley. Donna worked for many years as a legal stenographer for Cooper & Vogel before retiring in 1976.

Donna was very active in the curling and golf communities in Creston and loved spending summers with family and friends at Cummings Resort on Kootenay Lake. Donna and Gino spent many winters in Phoenix and Palm Springs and travelling to various other destinations.

They moved to Cranbrook in 2014.

At the age of 90, Donna left us on August 9, 2023 in Cranbrook, BC, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Donna will be remembered as an incredible wife, mother, Nana, Gnana and friend, and not defined by the disease that stole her from us. Our hearts are sad and we will miss her terribly, but we know she is resting in a better place.

Donna is survived by her daughters Debbie Thompson (Terry) and Shelley Sanderson (Mark); her grandchildren Jayme (Cam), Jason, Tyler (Shauna), Krystyn (Adriano), Amy (Jason), Blake (Lauren); her great grandchildren Mya, Knox, Kaydence, Kamryn, Mary, Colton, Luca, Isabella, Hunter, Hudson and Jax; her sister-in-law Peggy Salvador and family as well as a large extended family and many friends.

Donna was predeceased by her husband Gino, her parents Art & Mildred Lindstrom, Gino’s parents Louis and Olga Salvador, brother Ken, brother-in-law Rudy Salvador, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Loretta & Marcel Lamontagne,

The Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Ashlee King and all of the staff at Joseph Creek Care Village for their excellent care and support for Donna and our family over the last 5 years.

A Celebration of Life for Donna will be held at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 11:00am. The service will be livestreamed and recorded for those unable to attend in person and will be viewable on the McPherson website and facebook page following the service.
