Terrence Alan Damant
1946-2023
On Friday April 28th, a beautiful sunny spring day, our dad, brother, grandpa, uncle, cousin and friend passed away peacefully in his home of almost 38 years. Terry fought a four-year battle with cancer. He was 76.
Terry was born on September 29, 1946 to Alan and Barbara Damant. He was passionate about his family and loved and support them unconditionally. He enjoyed any opportunity to get together with friends and family, be it a huge Damant reunion, night out for dinner with buddies, or simple barbecued steak dinner up on the hill.
Terry also had a great love of the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting or a drive on the back roads. Perhaps his enthusiasm for nature started when as a young boy he was always expected to help out with the family garden or maybe it was when he worked for WCB, driving the logging and mining roads throughout the area. Whatever it was, he loved nature and it showed in the beautiful flowers he grew inside and out and the carefully manicured lawn he kept.
Many knew Terry as a man who would help out anyone who asked. He was a dedicated volunteer. He put in countless hours doing things and socializing with his second family, the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Making people happy was truly one of his greatest traits. Even in the end, when he wasn’t feeling well he was still teasing and telling jokes to make others laugh. Terry passed on his sense of humour to his children and grandchildren who are almost as mischievous as he was.
Terry leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Zoe (Les) and their sons David (Sierra) and Lucas and foster sons Lucien and Trinity; his son Travis (Ersula) and their children Kallee, Tucker, Baylee and Bree; his son Marc (Angela) and son Tim (Nicole); sister Linda and brother Lauren (Mary) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Linda, the love of his life for 48 years, sister Anne and parents, predecease Terry.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday June 3 at 1:00 pm at the Eagles Hall in Cranbrook (711 Kootenay Street North) with a lunch and reception to follow. Everyone is welcome to share stories and thoughts or just join in this special time of remembrance. In lieu of flowers a donation in his name to charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
