Obituary of Vernita Elizabeth Carlson

Vernita Elizabeth Carlson passed away peacefully on March 23, 2023 at the Cranbrook Regional Hospital surrounded by family members.  Vernie was 67 years old. She spent most of her life in the East Kootenays, working for Canada Post for many years.

 

Vernie will be lovingly missed by her sons Monty Carlson and Curtis Carlson and her grandchildren Dyllan, Zack, Aubrey and Beau.  Vernie will also be missed by her brothers Andy, John (Sharon), Kelly (Peggy), Ron, and Terry (Kelly) and her sisters Chris (Rick), Jackie (Willie) and Linda (Tom).

 

Vernie was happiest spending time with her family, especially when any of her numerous nieces and nephews (natural and honorary) were present.  Vernie enjoyed gardening, her dogs and anything to do with the outdoors.

 

The Carlson and the White families would like to acknowledge Vernie's niece Tina White and her brother Andy White, for the devoted care and support they provided to Vernie during her years of poor health.

 

Vernie was predeceased by her father Gilbert, mother Marie and sister Ellen. Their deaths affected her deeply as evidenced in a poem she wrote.

 

It broke my heart when you died

Nobody knew it but I cried and cried.

As the years go by, there's only fear

that the others will go before I

So I hide my fears

And pray each day

That the rest of my family

Will be ok

When I leave this life,

I'll say hello to our loved ones

Gone on before.

And I'll be there with them

To greet you at heavens door.

 

A Celebration of Vernie's life will be held at a later date.
