In Loving Memory of my dear Uncle Gerd. Even though we did not get to meet very often since I live in Ontario, I have fond memories of our visits and chats over the years.
I remember meeting him when I was just a teenager and he invited to go out west and stay with him as he could get me a job planting trees. That was so very thoughtful and I remember thinking that, while he meant so well, he sure did not know me very well as I know that I didn't have the strength or ability to even plant 1 tree probably. However, his confidence in me and encouragement was heartwarming.
I will especially always remember the very warm welcome and hospitality we received from Uncle Gerd and Aunt Jeanne in Calgary when my husband and I travelled across the country with our twins, Eric and Danielle, still in the womb. Uncle Gerd had such a kind, warm heart, cheery disposition and lots of memories/stories to share.

Our Deepest Sympathy for Your Loss.
Gerd was a very dear friend to our family, a great fellow that worked with us, lived with us and grew up with our family and friends. We have so many fond memories of Gerd and his strange sense of humor. Hans and I were downstairs watching TV, and I asked Gerd,"Gerd, Would you mind bringing me down the mail on top of the microwave"? And he did, He came down the stairs with the mail laying on top of the microwave. What a guy. He was very helpful and considerate at all times. Then he met Jeanne and life was full of fun and joy. So many good times and lots of laughs. We will miss you Gerd and wish Jeanne and the family all the very best.

How blessed my family was through the decades to have ‘Uncle’ Gerd and ‘Tante’ Jeanne, as part of our family. The love and laughter that was shared was insurmountable. Spending every Easter and Christmas with you both are memories we will cherish. And the laughs! Our hearts go out to his beautiful wife Jeanne. To witness these two with their utmost love for each other was inspiring. Gerd will truly be missed. Condolences and love from us all.

My wife and I only met Gerd and Jeanne a little over a year ago. Gerd had Eugene cut a tree down into our yard, thus starting our 'back yard' neighbour friendship.
Visits and trips to the hospital , airport and beer store!
We didn't visit often, but there was always a story and a laugh!
Be at rest Gerd.

Gerd was like a second dad to me.. He lived with my parents Inga and Hans . for a couple of years. In that time he helped me build my first house.. Lol it was in a tree. He belived in me and encoughed me to work hard and follow my dreams . I remember the day he met the love of his wife Jeanne.. We spent many of nights at the German Club. Dancing and signing.. Spent many of cold days hunting and fishing..
If I ever needed something he was always here for me.. I even named my pet chickens after him and his friend .. Gerd and Blondy.. I love you Gerd and your spirt will always will be with me.
