Obituary of Roger Jean Paul Gagnè

Roger passed away peacefully at home after a battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis and Dementia on Sunday, February 26, 2023.

 He will be remembered by his wife Claudette of 59 years. A dear father to Fabienne Kennedy (Dan) of Davidson, Sask, Annie Vaillancourt (Travis) of Penticton, BC and Nadia Gagnè of Auckland, New Zealand.
A wonderful grandpa to Andrè Plante (Tara) of Edmonton, AB, Marianne Gagnè (Trinket) of Salt Spring Island, BC and Danae Vaillancourt (James) of Calgary, AB. He survived by his 10 siblings, numerous of nieces, nephews and extended families of 326.

Roger was predeceased by his father, mother, 3 sisters and a brother.

Roger was born in Roxton Falls, Quebec and comes from a family of 17. He has 6 brothers and 8 sisters and was raised and worked on the dairy farm.

Roger played various sports but his love was playing hockey. Roger enjoyed being a goalie and He continued to play hockey all his adult life.
Roger and Claudette moved from Quebec to BC, where they settled in Canal Flats.
Roger started a logging company and worked as a Faller for 30 years.
He was a member of the Canal Flats Lions Club and volunteered many hours with various clubs.
Roger enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; socializing, travelling in his RV, golfing, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Family was very important to him. No matter what, you always helped your family.

We would like to say thank you to the following : Cranbrook Home Care, Nurses, Palliative team, Health Care Aides, Hospice volunteer Mark and the team of doctors that cared for Roger (Dr Andreas, Dr Zuege & Dr Fleet).

A memorial service will be held at McPherson Funeral Services Cranbrook, BC on March 25th 2023 at 1pm

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger’s name to Alzheimer Society of B.C. or Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
