Joe was one of my first and favorite Boy Scout Leaders.I have many fond memories of camping, hiking, cutting Christmas trees,Apple Days and other activities. Joe was always there with ideas and help as I started to be a Scout Leader myself. I have been lucky to be able to keep in touch with Joe over the years and always found him to have that smile and willingness to visit. For the past year or so I have been able to visit him at Joesph Creek and share many a story and memory. To Helen and family I extend my sincere sympathy. Another part of Cranbrook history is gone but the memories will last forever..

Joe and I worked together at the school district... he would come into my office every day, sit down and talk about life... his, mine, the boys... I loved all of his old boxing stories and was just glad I didn't have to go head to head with him during his early years... of course we always seemed to focus on Tom and his coaching career... Joe loved his job with the school district, but more importantly he loved the people he worked with... a great guy...I will always remember the 'twinkle' in his eye

While my horses were boarded at Joe's place I always new they were watched over. Joe even watched out for me though I do wonder what he thought when he saw my young horse come galloping in the yard riderless ( Joe would have spotted him easily from his chair looking down the driveway). Joe got in his truck and came looking for me and brought me home to climb back on again. I appreciated him watching over my neice Alison as she learned about horses and later he and Helen took an interest in my daughter Hannah and were always there to watch her dance at Joseph's Creek. It has been great to know you Joe and we will miss you. Dorothy and Greg Boulton

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Renney family. A smart man once told me that a man is measured by those that he leaves behind.......I have the pleasure of being able to call Tom a friend, and I know what a great man he is so I can only believe that his dad's even greater.........and I sure hope my dad is behaving when he begins to tell him some of the NY stories......

I Truley miss seeing Joe and saying good morning to him, on his morning walks to go see Helen. I could always rely on seeing him first thing in the morning, while I would be working a laundry shift. He would stop in and see how us ladies were doing. He was a very pleasant man. When I would ask him how he was, he would often reply " Oh just hunky dory!" He always refered to Helen as his "Sweetheart" My heart goes out to you Helen as well as your family!
