my stop was the first on Mr Scanlands route in the Gold Creek area when i was a kid...while i did get into some trouble here and there i always knew that the guy driving was watching out for us all....we were all his kids in a way i guess...he made sure that every one of us always got home safe...i'll forever look back on those bus rides and smile.....

For some it may not seem right to share this, but one of my favorite memories of Uncle Jim was at family gatherings he would sing a song about a rooster. I used to try to follow him but I was laughing too hard. I'll always remember Uncle Jim for his kindness and his smile. A man of true integrity and goodness will be missed by so many.

I remember as a kid growing up, for christmas i would always look forward to opening a new wooden truck that granpa hand crafted. my two favorites were the logging truck, (because thats what my dad did) and the tank he built me, which reminded me of what a GREAT hero my Grandpa really was. We all miss you granda...Love Bob, Andreja, & Bowe.

Uncle "Jungle" Jim will be missed by our entire family. Great memories of him playing the banjo and singing around the campfires. His great sense of humour.

Uncle Jim was my hero growing up. He had done war time service, which to me was awesome. That is probably the main reason I joined the Airforce at age 17 and spent the next 30 years in it. Our visits were few and far between back then, however in later years when we were in each others area we would make time for a short visit. When we were living in Comox Uncle Jim, Auntie Mary and Dennis invited us to go camping on the Island with them. One of his favorite sayings if something didn't quite go as planned was to say "its just the way I like it". We picked up on that and still use it today.
Happy Camping Uncle Jim, we will miss you.
Love
Jim, Thelma and family
